FAQ

What Is The Duct Cleaning Process?

If you are looking into having your air ducts cleaned, then you’re probably curious about the process that goes into the cleaning. While every duct cleaning company will be different, there are some basic steps that will be completed to clean your ducts.

Here are the basic steps required for cleaning air ducts:

  1. Ducts are inspected
  2. Mold or mildew near duct entrances is removed
  3. Ducts are vacuumed
  4. Remaining debris is loosened
  5. Ducts are vacuumed again
  6. The rest of the HVAC system is cleaned
  7. Ducts are resealed
  8. Everything is cleaned up

Ducts are inspected:

The first step in the process is to determine whether or not your ducts actually need to be cleaned. This can be done by a duct cleaning company or by an HVAC company. The inspection will likely take place in your home, in the attic, and in the crawl space (if your home has one). This will allow the inspector to see all areas of the ductwork and make an accurate decision. If the inspector finds mold or mildew or a lot of dust and debris, they will recommend that your ducts be professionally cleaned.

Once you decide to have your ducts cleaned, you’ll need to hire a duct cleaning company to do the job. There are a lot of duct cleaning companies out there. If you live around Richmond, Virginia, then you can hire Duct Cleaning Solutions for all your duct cleaning needs. Duct Cleaning Solutions is a professional duct cleaning company and has been cleaning Virginia ducts since 2012.

Mold or mildew near ducts is removed:

Mold and mildew should not be growing in your home. A common place for mold and mildew to grow is around duct entrances. If there is mold or mildew growing in your ducts, it will be removed by the duct cleaning company. Mold can be removed using special chemicals and will be scraped away by the contractor.

If there is mold or mildew growing in your ductwork, then the air quality of your home will be poor. Mold spores growing in ducts can then be spread throughout the house by the HVAC system blowing air. These mold spores can affect the health of those living in your home and can aggravate allergies. Mold should be removed anywhere it is found in your home.

Ducts are vacuumed:

Ducts are cleaned using a large, very powerful vacuum. The only cleaning system recognized by the National Air Duct Association and the EPA is the Abatement Technologies Hepa-Aire H2500IV intellivac. This is the system that Duct Cleaning Solutions uses. This means that your ducts will be cleaned by the best of the best when you hire Duct Cleaning Solutions.

The vacuum is effective for sucking dust and debris out of your ductwork. Some companies use larger, truck-mounted vacuums and some use smaller, portable vacuums that work just as well. No matter what method is used, your vents will be cleaned and the end result will be the same.

Remaining debris is loosened:

While the vacuum is pretty effective, there will still be some debris left. This debris is likely stuck to the walls of the ductwork and will need more pressure to be loosened. The cleaners will use a brush to loosen this debris. In order to reach all parts of your duct system, access holes will need to be cut by the cleaners. This will help them to reach all parts and efficiently clean all areas and loosen all debris. Don’t worry, though, because the cleaners will then patch your ductwork and make it seem as though the holes had never been cut through.

Ducts are vacuumed again:

Once all the debris and dust is loosened from the walls of the air ducts, the powerful vacuum will be run again. This will suck up the rest of the particles and make sure that your ducts are spic and span and shiny as can be.

The rest of the HVAC system is cleaned:

Not only do the ducts need to be cleaned, but so does the rest of the HVAC system. This includes the heating/cooling units, coils, filter, fan, and everything else. The duct cleaning company will be able to effectively and efficiently clean all the components and leave you with a like-new, clean system that will work better than ever before. If you have been experiencing problems with your HVAC system, then cleaning may be able to fix those problems, as cleaning will get rid of blockages and your entire system will be checked.

Ducts are resealed:

At the end of the process and once everything is cleaned, your ductwork will be resealed. This is when the access holes that may have been cut will be sealed up and made to blend in and not be seen. The entrances to your ductwork will be given special attention. A sealant may be used around all edges and certain areas to ensure that your ductwork is as efficient as possible and is not losing any air through small cracks or holes in the system. The less air that is lost through the ductwork, the faster your home will heat or cool and the more effective your system will be; not to mention that your energy bills will be lower because less energy will be wasted.

Everything is cleaned up:

Duct cleaning can be a messy process. Before the cleaning begins, the cleaning company should take proper precautions to protect your home. Plastic or cloth will be laid over furniture and carpet so that no dust or debris gets onto them. At the end of the cleaning process, these covers can then be removed and the area cleaned. Any good duct cleaning company should leave your home in excellent condition with no dust or debris to be found from the cleaning.

If you are looking for a duct cleaning company, look no further than Duct Cleaning Solutions. With expert cleaners and quality service, plus affordable prices, you won’t find anyone better in the industry. If you live around Richmond, Virginia, then Duct Cleaning Solutions is the duct cleaning company for you.

Duct And Light Cleaning For All Business Types

If you own a business, then you know how much work goes into keeping your business presentable and clean for your customers. Nobody wants to walk into a store or business and see dirty appliances or nasty surfaces. This goes for the objects at your customer’s eye level, but it also goes for objects above eye level.

Something above your customers’ eye level that may draw unwanted attention is the air ducts. If your building has exposed air ducts like so many do, then it will be obvious when they are dirty and need to be cleaned. The outside surface of air ducts is a common place for dust and dirt to build up, which not only looks unhealthy and disgusting, but is. The more dust and dirt particles that are in the air, the more unsanitary that air is and the more dust your customer’s breath in.

Not only do the outside surfaces of your air ducts collect dust and dirt, but so do the insides. The inside of your air ducts may be coated in a layer of dust and dirt and even potentially with mold or mildew. These particles are then able to blow into the air and into the lungs of everyone in the building. Nobody wants to breathe in dangerous air, meaning that this is a big problem that may need to be addressed right away.

Although this problem needs to be addressed, it most likely can’t be addressed by you. Cleaning air ducts is dirty, specialized work that takes specific equipment and a licensed contractor. Large vacuums are used to suck the dirt and dust particles from the air ducts, and these vacuums are much different from normal, everyday vacuums that may be sitting around your office. In addition to these vacuums, duct cleaners need to loosen and scrape the remaining dust to make it easier for the vacuum to pick up. Cleaning the outsides of the ducts is a whole other process and one that your company probably isn’t qualified to do.

So yes, you will need to hire a duct cleaning company to clean your company’s ductwork. If you live in the Richmond, Virginia area, then you should hire Duct Cleaning Solutions for the job. Duct Cleaning Solutions is the perfect company for the job. We are a professional duct cleaning service and you won’t be left disappointed. After hundreds of duct cleaning jobs since 2012, we are highly qualified to clean your business’ ducts and make your business a cleaner, better place to be. Duct Cleaning Solutions will always be here for you.

Duct Cleaning Solutions has professional and respectful employees who are dedicated to each job and will leave your business looking amazing. You won’t be disappointed when you choose to have your ducts cleaned by us.

Duct cleaning is a specific process, as mentioned above. However, this doesn’t mean that it will take hours and hours for you to have clean ducts. In fact, most commercial duct cleaning jobs can be finished within 3 to 4 hours.

If you’re worried about these 3 to 4 hours disrupting your business and stopping customers from visiting, then you can stop worrying. Duct Cleaning Solutions can do all of the work and cleaning while your business is closed, either on the weekend or after hours during the night.

Understandably, duct cleaning is a messy job and there may be a lot of falling debris. Because of this, Duct Cleaning Solutions takes precautions by covering all furniture and floors before tackling the job. After the ducts are cleaned, the area will then be cleaned and will be ready for your next day of business with no hassle on your part.

Here at Duct Cleaning Solutions, we believe that it is important for a business owner to be aware of what is in their vents above and to be conscious of the effects a dirty air duct may have on their customers. That is why we offer free inspections and free estimates on your business’ air ducts. We will come to your business and assess the amount of dust and dirt in and around your ducts, as well as keep an eye out for mold, mildew, and other dangerous substances. Once we finish our inspection, we will explain to you what we found and make recommendations for what we believe should be done.

Because we know how important having clean ductwork is, we don’t want price to be the thing holding you back from using our services. That’s why we want to make sure you are happy with the price. With affordable prices and quality service, we believe you will be happy with the results you see and the cleanliness of your ducts, both inside and out.

Not all business owners believe they need to have their ducts cleaned. Maybe the ductwork is in an area not seen by customers, or maybe you believe you can’t afford to have a company come in and clean your ducts. Even if customers aren’t physically able to see the ductwork and know how dirty it is, it is still important to take pride in your business and to actively keep all areas clean and sanitary.

Sometimes that means budgeting and finding ways to hire other companies to provide these cleaning services. Budgeting can only get you so far, and Duct Cleaning Solutions is dedicated to helping you find services and prices that fit within your budget and won’t break the bank. In order to keep your place of business clean, call Duct Cleaning Solutions. You’ll be happy with the results and will want to rave about us to your friends.

Have you ever looked up and seen dead bugs and dust and other nasty things inside the light fixtures above? Dead bugs in light fixtures are disgusting and can even potentially drive customers away, which is something no business owner ever wants. When a customer sees dead bugs above, they wonder what else may not be clean in your building. Even if your business isn’t one where customers physically come, your employees still don’t want to see nasty bugs whenever they look up. This is a common problem that a lot of businesses face. And one that can be fixed with no work on your part.

If the light fixtures in your building aren’t exactly clean or dust-free, then you should hire Duct Cleaning Solutions to come clean them for you. Duct Cleaning Solutions is a certified duct cleaning company that also cleans light fixtures for businesses.

Duct Cleaning Solutions has a lot of experience taking down, cleaning, and replacing light fixtures. Even though this can be a messy job, Duct Cleaning Solutions will never leave a mess behind. Our employees prep everything beforehand and then clean up after themselves, making sure that your office space looks even better than when we arrived.

If you’re worried about how this service will disrupt your business hours or distract your employees, then rest assured, there is no reason for worry. Duct Cleaning Solutions can come in after business hours to clean your lights and will have your facilities all cleaned and ready by the time your business opens in the morning.

With hassle-free service and amazing results, there is no reason for you not to hire Duct Cleaning Solutions to clean your company’s light fixtures. Not even our prices can hold you back! We focus on providing affordable, quality service and you can be sure that you aren’t paying more than our services are worth. We will work with you to make sure that you are happy with the price as well as the service we give.

So how are light fixtures cleaned? The process of cleaning lights depends on the location and the type of light fixtures. The first step is to make sure that power to the lights is turned off since this can cause an electrical shock. Once power is turned off, the cleaners can then access the lights. Most light fixtures will require a ladder in order to reach them. Once the cleaner is able to reach the light fixture, these fixtures can then be taken down and cleaned properly, both inside and out. Dead flies and other gross things that have accumulated will be taken out and thrown away. Dust and debris will be wiped away as well.

Professional light cleaners like those employed by Duct Cleaning Solutions are aware of the steps and will safely be able to clean your company’s light fixtures. Once they are finished cleaning your light fixtures, you’ll be amazed at the difference. With no more bugs or dust, you’ll no longer be embarrassed any time you catch someone glancing upwards, only to look quickly away with a scowl on their face. Now you can smile and nod smugly when you see someone look up, knowing that there is nothing for them to see.

All jokes aside, your light fixtures really will look amazingly better and now you can take pride in the cleanliness of your business.

Not only does Duct Cleaning Solutions clean light fixtures, but we can also clean and take care of your company’s ductwork (you probably guessed that, huh? Since it’s in the name and all). Air ducts are great places for dust and dirt to accumulate and for mold and mildew to grow. If too much stuff gets stuck in your air ducts, the air quality of your business can be negatively affected and can even endanger the health of your employees and customers.

Because you don’t want those in your building to get sick, you’ll want to occasionally have your air ducts checked and, if necessary, cleaned. This can be done by a professional duct cleaning company like Duct Cleaning Solutions. We service Richmond, Virginia and surrounding areas.

How often your ducts need to be serviced really depends on how dirty they get and how clean the air quality in your building is. Typically, ducts should be cleaned every 3 to 5 years. If you think your ducts may be dirty or moldy, then it’s time for you to call Duct Cleaning Solutions and have them checked. We offer free inspections and estimates, so you’ll know everything that’s happening before we get started.

Having clean light fixtures and ducts is essential if you want to keep a clean business with a nice atmosphere. Customers come into businesses and like to know that everything they see and touch is clean. While your customers may not be touching these particular areas of the building, it’s still important that they look nice and live up to your customers’ expectations. When all is said and done, having these areas clean will help you take pride in your business and help your employees and customers feel comfortable inside the building.

If you want to hire Duct Cleaning Solutions, have any questions, or want to talk to a representative, give us a call today. We would be happy to talk with you and explain our services and answer questions. We believe that light fixtures should be kept as clean as possible and we would love to help you keep your business’ light fixtures clean!

What Is Duct Cleaning And Duct Sealing?

Ductwork:

Although invisible to the naked eye and often not deemed important by a business or homeowners, air ducts are integral to your home or business running smoothly. Without air ducts, heat or air conditioning could not be delivered to different rooms and you wouldn’t be comfortable year-round.

Even though air ducts are important, most home or business owners don’t think to have them inspected or cleaned. They simply go on with their lives hoping that the air conditioning and heat continue to work properly, without really knowing what it is that lets them do so.

One of the parts that let the HVAC system continue to work is the ductwork. If your ductwork isn’t properly maintained or occasionally inspected, then it is more likely that problems will occur and your heat and air conditioning will stop working. Since you don’t want that to happen, you should have your air ducts inspected and, depending on how dirty they are, cleaned.

To have your ductwork cleaned will require the help of a professional duct cleaning company. Duct cleaning requires some specific equipment and a trained eye, so you won’t be able to do it yourself. Large, powerful vacuums are used to suck the dust and dirt out of the air ducts and scrapers are used to scrape off any remaining or stuck dirt. This means that it isn’t practical to expect to be able to do all this yourself without hiring someone else.

Duct cleaning can also be very messy. Unless you take proper precautions beforehand, like covering furniture and carpet, then you will deeply regret your choice to have those ducts cleaned. Luckily, professional companies know what they are doing and will be able to clean your ducts properly with minimal mess.

Light Fixtures:

Something else you may not often think about but that requires occasionally cleaning as well are light fixtures. The light fixtures in your business building can trap flies and other bugs, as well as dust and dirt. This means that before too long, they will start to look disgusting and will have dead bugs that you are able to see from the ground. You don’t want your customers or employees to look up and see dead bugs, do you?

No, you don’t. This means that you will occasionally need to have your light fixtures cleaned as well as your ducts. While ducts should probably be cleaned every 3 to 5 years, light fixtures should be cleaned at least once a year, if not more often than that.

While ducts cannot be cleaned by yourself, light fixtures can. If you want to clean your business’ light fixtures yourself, then there are some steps you can follow.

  1. Gather equipment
  2. Turn power to the fixtures off
  3. Remove light cover
  4. Dump out dead bugs
  5. Clean

Gather equipment- Some equipment you may need includes a sturdy ladder, a microfiber towel or some other type of cloth, cleaning solution, and a trash can.

Turn power to fixtures off- If you try to clean your lights while the power is still on, you run the risk of getting an electrical shock. In order to be safe while you clean, make sure the breaker is switched off and the lights can’t come back on unexpectedly.

Remove light cover-The way you do this depends on the type of light fixtures you have. Some lights are screwed on, some are hooked on, and some are snapped on. Once the light cover is removed, you can get to work.

Dump out dead bugs- You can dump the dead bugs into the trash can. Make sure you get them all. You may want to use gloves if you are having trouble getting the bugs out by simply upending the cover.

Clean- To clean your light fixtures you can use a cloth, either wet or dry. It may be best to start off with a dry cloth to get the dust and dirt. You can then use a cleaning solution or water to really clean the light fixture. Be careful not to get water or liquid near wires or other electrical components, even if the power is switched off.

Now that you know how to clean light fixtures, it’s up to you to decide whether or not you really want to go to all this hassle. If you don’t want to do it yourself, you can hire a professional cleaning company to do it for you.

If you want to be comfortable in your home year-round, then your home will need to have properly working air ducts. Air ducts are connected to the HVAC system and are what distribute the warm or cool air to different rooms of your house.

There are some things that can be done to your air ducts to ensure that they are working properly and are as efficient as possible. Your air ducts should be:

  • Inspected
  • Cleaned
  • Sealed
  • Insulated

Before any work is done on your air ducts, they should be inspected. Having your ductwork professionally inspected will ensure that proper measures are taken to improve your ducts rather than simply doing whatever sounds good. Ductwork can be inspected by a ductwork company or possibly an HVAC company. Ductwork professionals know what needs to be done and what to watch out for while inspecting your air ducts. If you choose to inspect your ducts yourself, that’s fine, just be aware that it’s possible you may miss something. It’s always best to have your ducts inspected by a professional rather than an amateur.

Ductwork also needs to be cleaned occasionally, typically every 3 to 5 years. Air ducts need to be kept clean of dust, dirt, and mold in order to work properly. These services can be provided by a licensed duct cleaning company. Duct cleaning companies use large, powerful vacuums to suck out the dirt and dust. They have proper chemicals and tools to get rid of mold and mildew as well, which will make sure that the air going into your home isn’t contaminated or dangerous. Once clean, your air ducts are one step closer to being as efficient as possible. Hopefully, this cleaning will mean that your ducts are able to work properly.

That is if there aren’t any other problems with your ductwork. If air is leaking through your ductwork, then the efficiency of your HVAC system will go down and the temperature of your home won’t be as accurate as you may like it. In order to avoid this problem, you should have your ductwork checked for leaks or other problems. This can be done by a company that focuses on ductwork.

If your ducts are properly sealed and have efficient airflow, then your utility and energy bills may be reduced. With properly sealed ducts, your HVAC system won’t have to work as hard to heat or cool your home. If your system isn’t working as hard, it will be cheaper to run. In addition to having cheaper bills, having properly sealed ducts will also help the environment. This is because your system will be consuming less energy, which will produce less pollution than a poorly working duct system.

Another reason your ducts may be inefficient is if they are located in an area with no insulation. If your ducts are in a ceiling, wall, or basement that isn’t insulated, then the ducts themselves may have trouble heating or cooling the room. This is because the HVAC system will first have to heat or cool the ductwork before the home can be heated or cooled. If your ducts are cleaned and sealed and they still don’t heat or cool the home as quickly as they should, then you can look into whether or not they are insulated and how to fix them if they aren’t.

Having insulated ductwork will have the same effects as having the ductwork sealed. Energy and utility bills may be lower because less energy will be used to heat or cool your home. The HVAC system won’t have to work as hard to be effective and so will emit less pollution into the environment.

While some work on your ducts can be done yourself, it is always better to hire a professional if it’s in your budget. Professional duct companies will be able to properly inspect, clean, seal and insulate your ductwork. This will eliminate risks and messy jobs. Cleaning your ducts, especially, will have specific equipment that will be required, like the large, powerful vacuum.

Finding a company to help with all your ductwork problems can be a challenge. Once you do find a reliable company, however, you’ll never have to wonder who to call if your ductwork starts acting up.

One such company that focuses on all aspects of ductwork is Duct Cleaning Solutions. If you live in the area surrounding Richmond, Virginia and are looking for a reliable, professional, and affordable duct company, then look no further than Duct Cleaning Solutions.

Duct Cleaning Solutions has been inspecting, cleaning, sealing, and insulating air ducts since 2012. With so much experience, you can’t go wrong with Duct Cleaning Solutions.

Duct Cleaning Solutions can work on both residential and commercial buildings. If your home or your business needs work, we are here for you. Ducts in commercial buildings can be even harder to reach and work on than those in homes. This means that if you own a business and need to clean or service your ducts, it will definitely be better to call Duct Cleaning Solutions than trying to do it yourself.

At Duct Cleaning Solutions, we know how inconvenient it can be to have to work on your ducts. How Do I Get Rid Of Mold In My Home?

Have you seen mold growing in your home? Have you noticed unwanted moisture and disgusting mold growing nearby? We’ve all heard how bad mold is, both for those breathing it in and the surface it sits on. Mold is a type of fungus that can grow in moist places and can damage the structural integrity of the material as well as potentially cause ill side effects to those breathing it in.

Unless you have a large amount of mold in your home, you probably won’t notice many health side effects, but having mold is never a good sign. If you have mold, it means that moisture is getting to places it shouldn’t, or that measures you’ve taken to prevent mold just aren’t working. If there is mold in your home, then you should get rid of it as soon as possible in order to avoid damage to surfaces or ill side effects.

There are ways to get rid of mold in your home. If the mold is easily accessible and within reach, you can mix bleach and water together to kill the mold and can then scrub it away from the surface. Mold killing chemicals can be purchased at a store and then used to kill the mold. However, simply scrubbing mold away is not always a permanent solution. The mold may grow back, so you should always keep your eye on any previously moldy areas and then scrub the mold away again if it grows back. If the mold is difficult to get to or is inside certain materials or areas, then you won’t be able to simply scrub the mold away and hope for the best. Sometimes the area around the mold will need to be completely removed in order to be safe and mold-free.

One such area that cannot be simply fixed on your own is if mold grows inside your insulation. It is common for mold to grow inside insulation. Insulation is the stuff that helps keep your home a good temperature (warm when the heat is on and cold when the air conditioning is running). Without insulation, this heat or cool air is more easily able to escape your home and the air from outside is more easily able to come in. This messes with the temperature of your home and will rarely be the temperature you want it to be. If you want to be comfortable in your home, then it’s essential that you have good insulation.

If insulation gets wet–maybe from a leak in the roof or a crack in the foundation–then the mold is able to grow. Mold growing on insulation makes the insulation less effective and can potentially lead to respiratory problems for those living in the home. If there is mold growing on your insulation, or in other areas of your home, it should be removed and replaced as soon as possible.

Moldy insulation can’t just be treated or sprayed with mold solution. If your insulation is moldy, then it will need to be removed and completely replaced. This can be done by a licensed insulation contractor or another company that focuses on insulation. Depending on the location and the type of insulation, it can even by done yourself, so long as you take proper safety precautions and know what you’re doing. If insulation is installed incorrectly, then it will be ineffective and won’t serve its purpose. And if insulation is installed incorrectly and not fulfilling its purpose, then your money will be wasted.

Since nobody wants to waste money, it may be best to hire someone else who has experience and credentials. One such company that focuses on insulation is Duct Cleaning Solutions. Duct Cleaning Solutions is located near Richmond, Virginia and serves the surrounding areas. If you’re looking for someone to replace or inspect your insulation, then Duct Cleaning Solutions is the company for you.

Mold and mildew can grow in other places besides your insulation as well. Mold can grow anywhere there is moisture, such as around leaks, pipes, and water sources like faucets. If you have a leak or moisture in places where there shouldn’t be, then mold can grow. One such place is in your air ducts. When condensation forms in air ducts, which is common, this can lead to mold.

Mold in your air ducts isn’t good. Mold spores can be blown through the air and affect the health of those living in your home. If there is mold or mildew growing in or around your air ducts, then you should have your air ducts cleaned.

In addition to insulation, Duct Cleaning Solutions is highly qualified to clean, repair, and replace air duct systems. If you need your air ducts inspected or cleaned and you live near Richmond, Virginia, Duct Cleaning Solutions is perfect for you.

If you suspect there may be mold in your air ducts, you should have them inspected. Duct Cleaning Solutions offers free insulation and duct inspections and will give you a price estimate once the inspection is done.

Duct Cleaning Solutions employs professional cleaners, inspectors, and insulation experts. Proper precautions are taken to ensure that all of your possessions and objects will stay clean and safe. Cleaning air ducts and replacing insulation can be a messy job, but with Duct Cleaning Solutions, you’ll hardly notice we’d been there once we’re gone. Nothing will be left dirty or dusty or unfinished.

Duct Cleaning Solutions values its customers and will make sure that everything possible is done to make them happy and comfortable. With respectful, dedicated employees and owners, you’ll be happy with the service you receive from Duct Cleaning Solutions.

If you want to have your insulation or air ducts inspected, cleaned, or replaced, then give Duct Cleaning Solutions a call. If you have any questions about their services, prices, or methods, then give Duct Cleaning Solutions a call. You will be happy you trusted Duct Cleaning Solutions.

Are Dirty Ducts Harmful To Customers?

Dirty air ducts are not only disgusting to look at, but they can also be harmful to yours and others’ health.

Studies have found that dirty air ducts can contribute to allergy attacks, rashes, and asthma. If you own a business and your customers are experiencing these symptoms while in your building, then you should look into having your air ducts cleaned. If those in your home are experiencing similar symptoms, then you should look into having your home’s air ducts cleaned.

Dust, dirt, and other pollutants can settle in your air ducts. Then, when the heating or cooling system is turned on and the air begins to blow through your ductwork, those pollutants are blown throughout the building, whether a business building or a home. When these particles fly through the air and then settle, they can affect those who are in the building.

Many business owners are careful to keep their business clean. They hire other companies to come in and wash the floors, the furniture, the windows, things like that. However, a lot of business owners forget to have their air ducts cleaned. If they are spending time and money on these other services, then they should definitely have their air ducts cleaned as well. If everything in your building is clean except the air ducts, then your whole building may not be clean for long because the air ducts will blow dirty pollutants all over the areas that have already been cleaned. When finding other companies to clean your business building, always make sure to hire a duct cleaning company to fix this problem.

One duct cleaning company is Duct Cleaning Solutions. If your business is located near Richmond, Virginia, then Duct Cleaning Solutions is the company for you. Duct Cleaning Solutions has been cleaning residential and commercial ducts since 2012, so you are in good hands.

Duct Cleaning Solutions uses the best tools available for cleaning ducts. This means they use the only cleaning system recognized by the National Air Duct Association and the EPA, the Abatement Technologies Hepa-Aire H2500IV intellivac. While these technical-sounding words probably mean nothing to you, just know that this vacuum system is the best there is and will give your business the best possible results.

As a business owner, you should take pride in your business and in the building where you’re located. If this means spending some extra money on making your building look and feel great, not to mention getting rid of something that is potentially harmful to your customers, then so be it. Don’t hesitate to have your air ducts cleaned by Duct Cleaning Solutions. With amazing service and dedicated employees, Duct Cleaning Solutions will have your building looking and feeling amazing, with no unwanted specks of dust to be found coming from your ductwork.

Speaking of being proud of your business, there are other areas that Duct Cleaning Solutions specializes in and can help you with.

If you look up and see dead bugs or dust in the light fixtures, then it’s time to have them cleaned. If you can see the bugs and dust, then so can your customers. This is definitely not a desirable representation of your business. Rather than your customers seeing these disgusting lights, you can make sure that they see only clean, bug-free light fixtures.

Enter Duct Cleaning Solutions. Duct Cleaning Solutions can clean not only your ducts but also the light fixtures. Clean light fixtures will add a whole new feel to your building and to your business. Typically, commercial light fixtures should be cleaned at least twice a year, but really anytime bugs become visible. It’s hard to keep bugs out, but it’s not hard to have the lights cleaned. Give Duct Cleaning Solutions a call and you’ll find out just how easy it will be to have light fixtures that are bug-free.

In addition to ducts and light fixtures, Duct Cleaning Solutions also specializes in sealing ducts, cleaning dryer vents and installing sealed vapor barriers.

It’s just as important to seal your ductwork as it is to clean it. Sealed ductwork will prevent air from going through the tiny gaps or cracks that are common in air duct material. The less air your HVAC system loses due to gaps, the more money you will save, the faster your building will heat or cool, and the less energy you will waste. If your ducts need to be sealed or re-sealed, then give Duct Cleaning Solutions a call.

While this area isn’t particularly related to cleaning ducts, it’s also important to keep your dryer vent clean. This part may not apply to your business building since not every business operates a dryer. However, it applies to every home and building that does use a dryer.

Clean dryer vents prevent blockage in your vents, which will help the clothes to dry faster and more efficiently and will save energy. If you know how to effectively clean a dryer vent and can do so without damaging it, then this can be done by yourself. However, if you aren’t sure about the process or don’t want to risk damaging the materials (which can come with a lot of repair costs), then you can give Duct Cleaning Solutions a call.

In addition to these services, Duct Cleaning Solutions installs sealed vapor barriers in crawl spaces. Crawl spaces are notorious for growing mold and housing bugs and rodents. This mold, as well as the bugs and rodents, can get into your home. With a sealed vapor barrier, the mold will be gone and the bugs and rodents will be unable to enter the crawl space. This means that your home will be dryer and safer.

Duct Cleaning Solutions would be happy to help you with any services you need. Give Duct Cleaning Solutions a call today to talk about services and prices or to ask any questions you may have. Don’t wait to make your business great.

What Are Vapor Barriers?

Crawl spaces are notorious for moisture buildup and mold growth. If there is moisture, mold, or other nasty things in the crawl space below your home, then eventually it will end up in your home. If mold is left untreated, it will continue to spread until it is inside your house. The same thing goes for moisture and other substances beneath your home.

The best way to stop moisture and mold from getting inside your home from the crawl space is to stop it from ever getting into your crawl space in the first place. An effective way to do this is by installing a sealed vapor barrier.

Sealed vapor barriers are any material that is used to seal and protect an area from becoming damp. They are a poly system and all the seams are glued or taped together, which prevents any ground from being exposed beneath your home. Homes without a sealed vapor barrier are more likely to get moisture, condensation, mold, and mildew in the crawl spaces and ultimately the home itself. Homes without a sealed vapor barrier also typically have poorer air quality.

If your home doesn’t have a sealed vapor barrier, then it can be fairly easy to put it in yourself. This will require a lot of crawling and working in less-than-preferable light, but it can be done. Be aware, however, that a sealed vapor barrier job done wrong is often worse for your home than not having one at all.

If the sealed vapor barrier is installed incorrectly, you may end up creating the perfect environment to trap moisture in your crawl space rather than keeping it out. If moisture does get into your crawl space and has nowhere to go and no way to evaporate, then more mold and mildew will grow and could eventually cause structural damage.

A sealed vapor barrier needs to be installed correctly in order to be effective. Unless you are confident in your ability to lay your own barrier, it will be best to hire a professional. Professional vapor barrier layers will be able to accurately lay the materials so that they act effectively for years to come. The materials themselves are not very expensive and depending on the company you hire, the labor may not be either. Laying a sealed vapor barrier typically won’t take more than a day of work, so you won’t be spending a ton of money on labor.

If the sealed vapor barrier is installed correctly, then it may be able to last for the rest of the home’s lifetime. Once done, you shouldn’t need to replace your sealed vapor barrier unless something major happens to it, like your home is flooded or the barrier becomes extremely loose. It’s wise to check it every once in awhile to make sure everything still looks good, but typically you won’t have to do anything more with it once it is done.

Another perk to having a vapor barrier is that it makes accessing things beneath your home much easier. In homes with a crawl space, there are often wires or plumbing located beneath the home. These can then be accessed by crawling beneath the home. In a crawl space with no vapor barrier, you will end up crawling on dirt in moisture, mold, and bugs, maybe even rodents and snakes. This is disgusting and makes the air quality beneath the home nasty and potentially unhealthy. With a vapor barrier, there will be no moisture, mold, bugs, or other critters. You will be able to crawl on the barrier, which will be made of plastic. This will help you stay healthy and clean.

While crawling on a sealed vapor barrier, it’s possible to tear a hole. This is nothing to be too worried about since it should be an easy fix. You can patch or tape the hole and the barrier’s performance won’t be affected. If this happens, you should be able to fix it yourself without much trouble.

You can install a sealed vapor barrier yourself, but you need to be realistic with yourself before you do so. If you don’t know what you’re doing and plan to just wing it or watch a bunch of Youtube videos and read a bunch of articles, then chances are that your sealed vapor barrier won’t be as effective as it could be.

If you don’t want to take the chance of an ineffective barrier, then you can hire a professional to do it for you. If you live in the Richmond, Virginia area, then that professional company is Duct Cleaning Solutions.

Don’t be fooled by the name. In addition to cleaning and servicing ducts, Duct Cleaning Solutions also cleans light fixtures, cleans dryer vents, and installs sealed vapor barriers. If your crawl space needs attention and needs a vapor barrier installed, replaced, or repaired, then Duct Cleaning Solutions can help.

We want you to be happy with the sealed vapor barrier you receive.

Why Should My Dryer Vent Be Cleaned?

Most people depend on dryers to dry their clothes. However, most homeowners and family members don’t really know how these machines work. There are so many different components that go into giving you dry clothes that it can be difficult to keep track of them and next to impossible to learn what they all do. Some of these components should be at least recognized by homeowners, if not understood.

One part of the dryer that is important to know about and understand is the dryer vent. The dryer vent is the long, metal tube that runs from the back of the dryer into the wall and up into the attic or down into the crawl space. This vent then runs outside the home, where the hot air is deposited.

The air that is heated and used by the dryer to dry your clothes needs to go somewhere. That somewhere is through the dryer vent and outside your home. If there wasn’t a vent on your dryer, that hot air would go out into your home, causing moisture buildup, rot, and mold. It would also mean higher electric bills since the HVAC system would have to work extra hard to cool down your home. Because this component is so important, it’s important to take good care of it and make sure that it is kept in working order all year round. If something happens to your dryer vent, it will need to be repaired immediately to avoid the above-mentioned problems.

It’s important to keep this dryer vent clean and free of lint. Emptying the lint trap in your dryer every time it’s used is important and helps avoid lint building up in the vent. However, bits of lint will still get through the trap and eventually build up in the vent tubing. When lint builds up, this tubing can become blocked, which will affect the rate at which your clothes are dried and could even damage the dryer itself. It will also result in higher electric bills since the dryer will be working harder to dry the clothes.

In order to avoid these problems and keep your dryer running smoothly, the dryer vent should be cleaned out at least once a year, but definitely whenever lint has built up or blockage has formed. By regularly cleaning out the dryer vent, your dryer will last longer and will be more efficient. If you want your dryer to run smoothly and your clothes to dry quickly, then cleaning the dryer vent will help make that possible.

So how difficult is it to clean the dryer vent? It depends on the location of the vent, the material, and the shape.

Location:

If your dryer vent runs from the dryer and straight outside without disappearing into and going through a bunch of walls, then it should be fairly easy to clean the vent yourself. All you’ll need to do is disconnect power to the dryer, pull the dryer away from the wall, disconnect the vent from the dryer, and clean it out. To clean it out, you can use a vacuum hose and some towels, or you can buy specific tools at a store to help make the process easier and more effective.

If the vent runs from the dryer and up to the attic or down to the crawl space, then the vent may be more difficult to access and clean.

Material:

Dryer vents are made from different materials. Dryer vents are either flexible or non-flexible. The flexible ones are made from foil or plastic while the non-flexible ones are made from metal. These foil or plastic ones are prone to rip or tear when faced with a sharp point or hard contact. This means that you’ll need to be careful while cleaning these out and make sure not to puncture through. Metal dryer vents are more durable and are much harder to damage. They can’t be torn or ripped, so you won’t need to be as careful while cleaning them.

Shape:

Depending on where the vent goes and where it exits your home, the vent may be fairly straight or may have multiple turns and elbows. A straight vent will be easier to clean. Potentially, you could even find the opening up in the attic and drop a brush attached to a rope down the vent in order to get the lint. If the vent turns or has elbows, then this isn’t a good idea, since you could dislodge an elbow or damage the vent.

If you aren’t sure where your vent goes, what it’s made out of, or what shape it is, then it will be best to hire a professional dryer vent cleaner rather than trying to do it yourself. If you choose to clean your dryer vent yourself and you ruin something or puncture the vent, then it will cost more money to fix it than it would have to hire someone to clean it at the beginning. Typically, having your dryer vent cleaned will cost less than a few hundred dollars, while it could cost up to a thousand dollars to completely replace or repair a dryer vent.
